I have been a sculptor for as long as I can remember. I mostly work in clay and my subject matter is princely figure studies. About seven years ago I was in a terrible car crash, (The other guy ran a light) I was injured bad enough to miss months of work, but sadly I could no longer work on my sculptures. I had accumulated about 5 years of photo studies for sculpture. But not being able to sculpt, I decided to digitally clean up the images. I removed the models from their backgrounds and cleaned up other imperfections. That is how my photographic mandalas started. I started adding the model forms to my geometric sketches and the art from the left hemisphere was born.
After about 4 years of healing and yoga exercising, I have been able to sculpt again. I still work in clay, but I also work in other media too, such as brass. The media of my current series is brook stone. It is a very challenging media and it takes a great deal of time to complete each piece.
The Brook Stone Series is made up of carefully layered stones held together with a modern plastic resin. So far I have completed 4 in the series. Look for more in the near future.
I still enjoy working in clay and I have just started a new 24 inch tall piece. And incidentally, I do portraits and commissions too. Love to hear from you if you are interested. Jeff
