About Me

Painter, sculptor, writer, photographer and storyteller. Cartographer, navigator, sailor and world traveler. Designer, publisher, art director and creative director. Builder, creator, yogi and dreamer. I wonder what I will be today?

ABOUT THE WORK Art of the Left Hemisphere!

I am an artist who loves both math and the beauty of the human form. I joined them together and found an entire universe of sensual patterns and curvaceous geometrics. I have found an unending trail of possibilities in combinations of form and structure. The images sometimes read as artistic or decorative, natural or mechanical, familiar or foreign. Most of these images were created during my recovery from a car wreck. I wasn't able to move much, so painting or sculpture were not possible...but I could work a computer. So, I started working on these photo montages. And as I saw the results, I could see more possiblities or rabbit holes to follow up on. I enjoyed both the math and the geometry that slowly revealed itself throughout the process.

They sat dormant on my computer until recently, when I finally showed them to a few friends. Their unbridled enthusiasm for the patterning and subject matter is why I built this web page. Enjoy!

And, as always, I am open to commissioned work!

Inspiration

The female form and mathematics. And the use of the computer in the fine arts.

I have always been interested in the classical contrapposto pose, especially found in the female form. I love the complex series of flowing concave and convex curves one can trace from head to toe in these poses.

The math and geometry needed to build these design has been inspirational and beguiling. Changing variables even slightly can change the final layout or pattern greatly...

Techniques

Over the years I have compiled a rather large library of figure study photography. These studies were source materials for my sculpture and painting projects.

While cleaning up one of these images, I noticed the image would interlock well if it was rotated on its self. I did, it did, an entire universe of possibilities opened up for me.

I have been following the rabbit holes of this universe since 2013.

career highlights

In 1984 shortly after college, I was honored to have one of my computer mediated serigraphs selected to join a five-city nation-wide show featuring computer mediated art.

My fine art career has centered on photography, but it has ventured out into portrait and figure painting and sculpture. I still enjoy getting my hands dirty.

Now I have circled back to Computer mediated art, I hope you enjoy.
